PHILOSOPHY

I have a real love for the special nature of my work and I strive to maintain the most engaging, effective, and ethically sound practice. Below you’ll find the ten tenets I developed to guide my work:

1

It is impossible to selectively heal; this is what makes therapy so transformative.

2

The most important factor for successful outcomes in therapy is the relationship between therapist and client; this remains paramount throughout the work.

3

There is no line between the helper and the person being helped; there’s only connection.

4

Clients themselves are the best experts on their own lives, desires, motivations, memories, experiences, and choices. My expertise lies in the process, not the person.

5

The healthiest people are the ones who connect to support.

6

I don’t believe in professional pretense. Accordingly, I’m not concerned with sounding or acting “like a therapist;” my focus is on efficacy.

7

I believe in being supportive and accessible while taking great caution not to create an atmosphere of dependence.

8

Hearing what’s not being said is as important as hearing what is being said.

9

Pathologizing the natural human condition is not the space I work in.

10

I maintain transparency on this: There is no magic pill. There is no silver bullet.
